Preventing Dark Circles!

Ok since we girls have been complaining of dark circles under our eyes and looking like pandas…I’ve done a quick search on the internet and found some home remedies to prevent these dark circles.
Interestingly I found out that dark circles under the eyes have little to do with how late we stay up or how little sleep we get!
The periorbital area (around your eyes) is the thinnest and most delicate skin of your face. Like all skin, the periorbital area is webbed with tiny capillaries, blood vessels so tiny that red blood cells have to stand in line, and sometimes bend in half, to get through them. Blood sometimes leaks from these capillaries - this probably happens all over the body all the time. This loose blood isn't a problem; your body has a method of taking care of it.
Unfortunately, the body's process to get rid of that loose blood is what causes dark circles under the eyes. The way that loose blood breaks down is through an oxidization process known as "hemoglobin degradation." Basically, the hemoglobin (the stuff that makes red blood cells red) gets broken up into smaller components - and when hemoglobin degrades, it turns a dark bluish-red.
When we are fatigued or tired, our skin tends to be paler and therefore makes the dark circles even more prominent. So it is best to have ample rest and sleep. Also during pregnancy and menstruation, our skin also becomes paler and therefore making the dark circles appear darker.
Dark circle creams help by speeding up the hemoglobin degradation process. When the blood is completely degraded, the pigmentation will also fade. Some creams also help to strengthen our eye capillaries to prevent future ‘leakage’.

Below are some home remedies you can try:
1. Cucumber slices/ potato slices over your eyes for about 10-15mins. The cucumber slices soothes and lightens dark skin.
2. Used tea bags over your eyes will also help dark circles. Recommended tea bags to use include black tea, green tea and chamomile. Chamomile can also help to reduce puffiness.
3. Use a cold wash cloth when washing your face. Cold water helps to constrict the blood vessels under the eyes and reduce puffiness.
4. Indian remedy for dark circles:
You will need:
1 tsp tomato juice
3-4 drops of lemon juice
a pinch of turmeric powder
enough white flour to make a paste
Mash these ingredients together into a medium-thick paste and dab it under your eyes. After fifteen minutes, wash the paste away. This should lighten the dark circles and address puffiness to some degree.
5. Drink lots of water because water helps to wash the toxins out of our body.
6. Proper nutrition with a healthy and balanced diet.
